<3 for Schadenfreude and Celestial Studios

I've been planning a post about skins. First there was Another Fundraiser, then TaP/Fleur was moving and had a sale, then there was the whole deal about skin theft, then the Tuli release. Skintastic! I took all these pictures, and somehow ... it got to be too much. There are a LOT of pictures of my face (since I don't show much else skinwise in SL!), and ... I just got bored with it. I might put that post up someday, but all that skin just got daunting.

However, I will say this - I have a lot of lovely skins now, but my very favorite default, skin is a freebie, from Tete a Pied (now Fleur), from when they opened the train-theme store. It's called "Fleur" and I have yet to find an outfit or haircolor it does not go with. I <3 it - and I actually kind of feel guilty that it was free. It's what I'm wearing in most of the pictures on this blog.

So anyway, what was I going to say? Oh yes, I got distracted by a couple of recent freebies from Schadenfreude. First, lovely pants.

I had a hard time taking those pants off - I just kept finding tops to go with them in the inventory. LOVE these pants. They were a group gift.

What finally got me out of those pants (just barely, I wore them with this for a while) was one of Schadenfreude's Saint Valentine's Day Hunt dollarbies: the Nosferatu coat in "ghost."

I adore my Nosferatu in "midnight" (dark blue), so I was very excited that this was one of Allegory Malaprop's V-D gifts! Good god, isn't it cute as a dress? With the hair and the boots - isn't there something a little "evil scientist" about it? Just a little?

And what is that Owly is holding? Could it be? Why yes, it is only the most magnificent group gift ever in the history of Second Life.

It is a red patent leather hobo bag, the first gift in Celestial Studio's "Week of Love," in which group members will receive a gift every day from 2/11-2/15.

I mean, seriously. Look at this thing:

And there are going to be MORE gifts!? MORE!?! REALLY!!!??!? Because this bag is so utterly beautiful, I can't imagine what's coming next that could possibly top it. I would have been happy with this alone. Heck, I would have BOUGHT it! (Okay, I'm planning on getting the orange. And maybe the blue. And the black. Oh, and probably the white.) (And sorry for wearing the white glitch pants in this photo. The coat "skirt" got in the way, and I ... don't know what I was thinking.) And it comes with two holds, as illustrated. Oh, here's one more picture:

Week of LOVE indeed.

Peronaut

Before I start, please let me apologize for the regrettable photography. It's all over the place, and there's a lot of the back of my head.

So.

Yesterday a FashCon notice was sent from Secret Serenity, a jewelry shop, and I decided to tp over because the designer's name is Andrea Attenborough, and Sir David Attenborough just cracks me up.

Here I am in a bad photo front of the store. The jewelry selection is good, and there are a few lockets, which interest me very much. But what I really want to get at is that they have a subscribe-o-matic for the group, which I think is very civilized. I really appreciate the stores that are using this method of getting information out to their customers/fans. The whole 25-groups-limit thing makes no sense - there are WAY more than 25 things I'm interested in in SL! Anyway, there is a little present for subscribing to Secret Serentiy, a green agate and platinum ring:

CUTE! Oh, speaking of rings, below you will find The Honey, from Hi-Flo, The Hidden Jewel, which was one of the FashCon RezDay freebies:

Talk about Mrs. Gotrocks.

Anyway, the sim where Secret Serenity resides has a pleasant balance of retail, residential, and nature, so I spent some time walking and flying around, over bridges and streams, near ponds, and then I came across this:

Whoa. Modern architecture. I've seen medieval castles, Mission-style bungalows, ancient Roman villas, but never anything like this so far. I'd have to pull out a book to get at what this is really an homage to, but it reminds me of both the Berkeley Art Museum and the art department building at the University of Chicago. Some interior shots:

What is this? Well, the shop is called Candyflip Designs, and it appears they are some kind of lighting store. There was an inaccessible section that was under construction (area in top photo), and another area that did have some items offered that are not to my taste (behind me in the bottom photo). But look at this building!!!

I'm quite taken with it - clearly! - and I'm tempted to IM the owner. We'll see if I follow through on that.

If I ever have a reason to acquire or rent property, I want a building like this. And then, I want a pond like this:

Well, ok, it's not a great photo, but also on Peronaut is Simply Sierra's, which sells pre-fab commercial buildings and koi pond supplies.

The koi and pond elements are really beautiful, and the fish swim realistically. I would love to see a sim that was (almost) all Simply Sierra's koi pond!

In the second picture from the bottom, you will see some tiny green dragonflies. Those are coming from me. Secret Serenity had some freebies, one of which was a "dragonfly emitter."

Really, Owly? More freebies? Didn't you get enough on FashCon RezDay?

I have two answers to this: 1. It was wafer-thin. 2. Hush up.

Now, I've seen emitters and poofers before. It usually looks like the wearer is - forgive me - farting a big cloud hearts. Or rainbows, or flowers, or unicorns, or whatever. (I guess it depends on where you attach it.) Anyway, I was skeptical, but as I was alone, I decided to try on the dragonfly emitter.

Well, I loved it. The dragonflies come out very slowly - just one at a time - so that it is as if you were sitting by a pond surrounded by just a few dragonflies, lazily roaming in wide circles around you. (Secret Serenity also offers earrings with the same green dragonfly.) I wouldn't wear the emitter it in a crowd of strangers, or indoors, but for wandering around Peronaut, with its waterfall, parks, and ponds, it was perfect.
