Birds of Pillow Talk

I've mentioned Pillow Talk before, the place where one gets the Reading Thingy, among other things. By special request (hi E!), I returned to blog the birds of Pillow Talk. They have the cutest, most beady-eyed little birdies. Behold!

Bluebirds, robins, and blackbirds (which I did not photo for some reason), and a couple of swans. The small birds are rounded and fat, for extra adorability. And the beadiness!!! I am a complete sucker for a beady eye.

That's how I picked the grad school I went to: the squirrel that ran up my pants (outside, people, please!) at the University of Chicago had the most devilish beady eyes! A story for another day ... Also, I can't say that I recommend this method of selecting an institution of higher learning.

Anyhoot, some birds fly, some have a little nest, some just sit there full of eye beadiness. I must admit I prefer the swans at Animalia, but these ones are still nice, probably lower prim. (Huh, it might be nice if I actually looked before making that statement.) There's even a basket of apples with two bluebirds if you'd like one to go near your Pillow Talk climbing apple tree (not photographed).

I just picked up a few of these birds for my house. They'll go great with my stump of insanity. Oh, you haven't seen the stump of insanity? Again ... a story for another day. ;-)

ETA: It's Animania, not Animalia, and the swans have the same number or prims: 9. However, the ones at Animania do a lot more stuff, and are about $L300-400 more expensive. If you don't need your swans to do much more than swim and look pretty, $L150 is good for the ones at Pillow Talk. There is a major Birds of Animania blog post on the horizon - possibly in late June. There's just so much there, and their birds are pretty amazing. (Like my barn owl.)

a continuing lack of birds, then, surprisingly, the birds of Hallelujah Blue

Great. Another birdless post. What a jerk. Well, I've moved house, and that's taken some time. This is where I live now - more space, less going on. Hallelujah Blue will remain my hometown, though - I keep thinking of it as moving to the suburbs. Or like, even further away - I only have maybe two neighbors, that I'm aware of! Moved to the country. Like, if the country was a beach.

I miss HB already. It was very hard to leave. Oh speaking of which, not totally birdless:

black goose

heron

blackbird

lovebirds

These are some of the birds in Hallelujah Blue. Go there and find them, it's a lovely place to visit.

no birds today ;-/

I have been busy. I've taken quite a few bird photos lately, that I'm still organizing for future posts, but I've also been quite distracted by many things, such as ...

BEGINNING

MIDDLE

END

Why yes, I am drinking a chalice of blood as demons fly around me - thank you for noticing!

See the picture on the wall in the middle photo? That is Tammi, who is absolutely lovely, and Ink Signia is her shop. She makes custom tattoos while you wait - how cool is that? I may finally get the Guadalupe for my back, which I have been seeking for so long ...

Oh also:

Demon on one shoulder, bunny on the other. Awsum.

expanding the definition of birding even further ...

Shhhhhhh! It is the rare and elusive dragon-breasted PT bird, in his natural habitat. Second only to the bowerbird in terms of obsession with and ability in nest-building, he is known for his cries of "lol" and "brb."

Don't startle him! He wings off to Redgrave, or to seek out textures, at the slightest provocation.

Even rarer than the dragon-breasted variety is the kilted dragon-breasted PT bird, which much be approached with caution, as he most deadly.

Yes, I am totally LOLing.

shoulder hawk

A couple of posts ago there was a little shoulder hawk. Eveline went to get one for herself, and for some reason there were three in the box. So she gave one to me! It is here:

OUCH!

This is where you find them: Dolphin Creations

Dolphin Creations? Really? Ok ... I don't see any dolphins ...

There are flying ones, above, and there are sitting ones, below.

Sea Eagle

Hawk

Bald Eagle

There's something a little odd about them - something about the shapes that isn't quite right. I've seen bald eagles - they don't look quite like that, their heads are bigger. The hawk and sea eagle are a big pointy-headed, too. Nonetheless, it's nice to have a little bird digging its talons into my bare shoulder. Yay!

beach house

My friends PT and Javi are building the house depicted below, and these photos are just to document the progress. I wish I had started taking pictures earlier, when it was just 4 posts and 2 planks. And a glass box. They plan to rent out 8 of them on a beach sim.

I may have to figure out a way to rent one of these. It's been fun watching it go up ...

Nevermore

It was inevitable that I would return to ~silentsparrow~ for my bird blogging. First: "silentsparrow." Love the name - gives one such a good mental image. Second, the sim has that wonderful raven thing from Blood. Witness!

It's called "The Murder" and you set it on the ground, where it sits there and looks awsum, and every once in a while it rezzes another raven that flies around randomly. It's perfect for the loneliness of this sim. In the picture below, you can see one of the flying ravens crossing the house. I tried to get a good photo of the flying ones, but they went so fast!

I love this raven, and I'm thinking of getting one for myself. I just need a pallid bust of Pallas above my chamber door. And a dead girlfriend. Then I'd be all set. Seriously, if this came in owl, I'd have it already.

I like spending time on ~silentsparrow~, especially when I want a little privacy. I just go and sit with the raven, and I get my peace back.

Blood also has a version of "The Murder" that sits on your shoulder. I'm not totally clear on what it does - something about sending out birds, or maybe it flies off and follows you, maybe both. Anyway, it has a HUD, and whatever it does, it sounds v. v. cool. Again, if it came in owl ...

Ok, if you go to Blood - a little ways off there is a place called "White Honey." OMG. It's hilarious. I was in there, looking for the raven thingy, and I tp'd someone in with me before everything had rezzed and uh ... yeah, we were both a little surprised. LOL! Well, what did I know? My mind didn't go there with the name "White Honey." Maybe I am Snow White after all.

Also, yes, I know technically it's a crow, but I'm going to call it a raven. In the info card from Blood they use both terms, so I'm going w/ raven, as it is more romantic. There are crows in my RL neighborhood, and they are just nasty little jerks.

extending the definition of birding ...

Here I am, in my backyard, exposing myself to the sea. Is this not the most amazing tattoo ever? Yes, ok, four photographs of it may be excessive, and I probably should have set the light a little better for the photos, but ... I just couldn't wait to get this up. In fact, I'll probably shoot and post my back again. In terms of favorite SL birds, this ties for number one with the owl on my roof.

If anyone reading this blog - either of you - has suggestions for where to find haltery backless shirt thingies - please do IM me, or comment! Otherwise, I'm just going to be walking around 1/2 naked, flaunting my crane (among other things, I guess), and I kind of don't think I should do that, for the most part.

Wow - "flaunting my crane." That just doesn't sound right.

crane-tastic, with a bonus hawk

My friend Eveline kindly put out a flock of cranes for me to photograph. This is her, in her garden in the sky, with her flock. Don't know where she got them. For the longest time I've been thinking they're sandhill cranes, but I did a little research, and they're actually red-crowned cranes. My photography could still use some work, but I figure the more pictures I take, the better I'll get.

Aaaand ... while I was there I briefly met her friend Djuna, who has a little hawk! How cute is that?

Super-cute.

oh my god what have I done? lol

Apparently I have a reputation amongst the people I know in SL, and the people I've never met who think they know me (which is a weirdness beyond all else), of being demure, innocent, prudish.

Yeah, well. I met a lovely photographer at Minor Fall the other day, Kara Gelbert, and we took some pictures that just might blow that reputation out of the water. Epsilon was involved, and so was orb, but somehow orb kept "crashing" and couldn't be there for the final shot. (yeah right)

Here's Kara's site: Sharonpixie Studios. Click if you dare. Don't say I didn't warn you, and don't blame me if you see something you really didn't want to see!

I'm going to bug orb about doing a calendar ... "The Girls of Hallelujah Blue." That was Epsi's title, Kara could do the photos. I think it should be a fiscal calendar, bc that would just be awsum.

ETA: Kara took the picture down! Damn! lol Well, if you want to see the photos, just ask me. Or ask to see my crane tattoo - same effect. ;-)

more birds

I've been away for ages ...

So I went to a ... wedding reception, I guess? The wedding had happened weeks ago, but this was just the party. Still haven't met the bride. I mean, the other bride. Wait. What? Oh, anyway, "blogging the birds," so there was this bird thing ...

It was a bird poofer. And ... I liked it. I was all, does this thing come in owl?

Yes, my photography is terrible, but this was the best I could do. ;-) I met a photographer recently, and I'm still trying to decide if I should share that photo ...
