honk shu

I seem to be taking a little sabbatical from taking pictures of birdy things in SL and then writing lame things about them. I shall show you my nirvana owl someday, I expect, and I have a long list of other things I'd like to put up here. Someday. Right now I need a break from it. Just fyi. Do feel free to IM me with all your pressing, critical, time-sensitive, life-or-death bird-related questions.

nirfuckingvana

uh ...

uh ...

...

More to come when I've had time to process this discovery and recover my senses.

owly learns something about gor

Well, I was out looking for chickens, and you'd be surprised how many chickens are found amongst Gorean stuff. Or maybe you woudn't be. But I was. I guess the Goreans really like their chickens. And as I was wandering through all these Gor shopping malls, I found this:

I guess there is a giant bird called a tarn that Gor guys ride around on. (Silly me, I thought a tarn was a lake.) This bird is huge and menacing, and I kind of love him. There are two versions for sale at Black Rose. The standing one, pictured above, blinks and bobs his head and is devilishly adorable. The rideable one carries seven people, three on the back and four in a hanging basket. Uh. One of the features of the rideable tarn is that you can bind a slave to its back, and the slave squirms. And you know ... if you're going to bind a slave to something, I guess you would want it to squirm. ANYWAY. Here is another view to give you a sense of size:

Notice how totally inappropriately dressed I am. Lucky for me no one else was there. So yeah! Today I learned a few new bird-related things about Gor. Furthermore, this bird is really beautifully constructed and a sight to behold.

pearly birds

A couple of months ago, Official Bird Pimp Elusyve sent me very cute pearl bird earrings with emerald eyes, and ... yes, it has taken me this long to post about them!

Adorable and primmy, and when I finally went to Ginza Jewelry Kohime to check them out, I discovered there is a bunny version of these earrings as well. Supercute.

So was there anything else birdy at this jewelry shop? Why yes ... yes there was ...

This pretty-shiny-primmy chickadee hair pick comes in blue, green, and red. I tend to not wear hair decorations, but I've been wearing this non-stop since I got it, even with non-up-dos, and I confess that looks weird, but I simply haven't wanted to take this off. I'm trying to figure out a way to wear it that doesn't require it to be a hair stick ... hm ... maybe my possum birds need a sparkly little friend? (Oh, I said "sparkly," but thankfully it does not bling.) Here, another view:

Fantastic detail on this, and all the other jewelry I saw at GJK.

Furthermore, the pose stands in the shop have a nice dove mosaic. I wish a pose stand like this came packaged with the jewelry, as I wouldn't mind leaving this out in the aviary (which also functions as my "home"), unlike most pose stands. Oh, but another good pose stand that does come with a purchase is Kunstkammer's. Ok, just covering all my bird and pose-stand bases here.

The last thing I'd like to mention about Ginza Jewelry Kohime is that while there are several shops, the slurl I've given is to the one at WITH. I love this sim - it is not an exact replica of Venice, but it absolutely accurately reflects the feel of Venice. I enjoyed getting lost here (as I have in RL Venice), discovering what was over the next bridge, around the corner, or down the alley. If I made stuff, I would totally want a shop here!

(uh, in addition to a main shop on the Hallelujahs, lol)

swanlicious

Remember the other day when I freaked out about Greek mythology and Icing and whatnot? Well I do. And guess what - I found a Björkish swan dress! Hoot! I mean, honk!

Mm, yeah, bear with me while I work on this photography thing.

So ... here's my deal: I am pleased the floofitude of the skirt, very feathery and floaty, but I do wish the swan's head and neck had been sculpted a bit better. It's like, all the potential is there, but it could be moreso. Oh well, what did I want for $189L?

(I wanted a well-designed swan's head and neck, that's what! I guess I can just want that.)

Cat and Angie have these crotch swans? I don't think I ever posted them here, I shall have to dig up a photo. Anyway, we've been calling this the "tit swan."

Swans are mean bastards, aren't they? Oh wait, that's geese.

I'm not sure this dress is very tasteful. Maybe that's the point. Is it really proper to wear your Olympian fornication partner (thank you, Adrian Monk!) around your neck? And yet, I've been wearing it a lot. Like, all over the place. Like a swanlicious exhibitionist. Oh, you think you might want one, too? Here: Weirdiculous. Apparently there is also a pink flamingo costume at Weirdiculous, but I was blinded by the Björk.

possum bird

I do try not to turn this blog into the "I love silent sparrow blog." I mean, there's been lots of feathery stuff there lately (maida! ryou!), and there is that insane birdhouse shop at Starlust, and ... yeah, I try to keep it under control, because it could so easily go way out of control. However, there are these lil shoulder birdies now ...

Jesus Christ, would you look at them? Ok. Here's the thing. First, they are adorable. Second, you can change their expressions - normal, angry, sleepy, dizzy, flowery and another one I forget. Third, you can resize them in four sizes, from teeny tiny to nuzzling your cheek. Fourth, THEY ARE COPY! So if I wanted to I could put them all over myself! In fact, the lil blue guy was originally on my right shoulder, and I moved him to my left. I might put one on my head. Fifth? FIFTH!? Comes with one you can just rez somewhere! Which I totally did in the aviary! However, my one sadness is that the just-rez (no script) one is not resizeable, bc I would love to just stick a giant one somewhere (H girls, no quoting out of context, please). Also, I suppose I have a second sadness, which is that I wish they were color change too, as it was difficult to choose among the six colors. I might have to go back and get purple. A balancing happiness is that they are just $200L.

Below, you see me rockin the birdies with hyasynth Tiramisu ... OH DEAD! Dead is the sixth expression, as you see on her shoulder below.

Ok also? See below? She is wearing that tail. That tail that does stuff. I managed to restrain myself and not click it repeatedly this time. I do have that problem, once I figure out that stuff does stuff (sense-making? no.)

Yes, I asked about "possum" - that's just how she names things, bestowing unrelated names, it has nothing to do with Australian drag comedy (thank god).

Do I really need to add a slurl? Come on.

birdie on my skin

Miss Angie found some bird tattoos for me while she was out shopping ...

I usually have a bad time taking photos of tattoos, they come out all pixely. I'm not sure why it worked out this time, or rather worked out better than usual, but there y'go. The bottom tattoo is all over the front as well, but I just didn't feel like showing my boobs today. Sigh. I quite like these tattoos, but I wish I could make the black fade a bit, as I tend to wear very light skins and it's just so high contrast.

I am a bit low-energy today, so all I can really say is: TY Angie, has birds, I like, find here.

kunstkammer vogelchen

Kunstkammer is one of my favorite stores, because yea verily, it is a kammer of kunst. Right now there is a gorgeous jewelry set, "la porte des reves," for just $60L (a deal for January only, it seems). It includes the necklace above, which has a weeeeeeeeeeeee little teeny tiny crow on it. Look at that. My photo does it no justice, the stupid camera thingy wouldn't let me get any closer (plus I paid no attention to lighting in the midst of my excitement, sigh). Click on the photo for a larger view. Hooray for teeny tiny!

psychotic chicks

If you are doing the CSR thingy, perhaps you have come across the insanity at plod. Or perhaps you came across it independent of CSR. How am I to know? Anyhoot, there are some amazing, goofy things here, and the birdly ones are as follows:

Baby chicken chairs! The sits are very cute. I am trying to figure out an excuse to have a set of these at the Hallelujahs, but I think if I try PT and Javi will squawk.

A giant nest! You can sit in it! With your friends! Or enemies, whatever. Again ... WHERE could I put this on the Hs!? Also, meet my male alt, Edd, who is attempting to hatch an egg. I love Edd, but not as much as Meara loves her male alt. *ahem*

LITTLE CHEEEEKEN RIDE! My sadness is that if you sit on the one at the shop, it gives you the boot and says that old "You are not the owner blahX3." I am THIS CLOSE to acquiring it ... but do I need it? I just might ... it is too psychotic, and I don't have a bird ride yet ... or do I? (digs through inventory)

You will find many, many things here that you do not need but will want desperately. Or maybe that's just me? Go see! I defy you to NOT find something you at least kind of want! I challenge yoooooou! Wah!

(sorry, it's been the holidays, the "I challenge you!" thing is something my SIL and I do, hee)

peacockery and a wee contest

Remember when Björk wore that swan dress to some awards ceremony or other? I thought it was brilliant, and I kept waiting for any of the "entertainment reporters" to acknowledge the dress's reference to Leda and the Swan. As I recall, I was disappointed. Hello ... Helen, Clytemnestra, Castor, and Pollux were in the egg attached to Björk's foot, y'know!? Tsk. Who killed Homer!?

Anyhoot, when I saw the Icing dress "All Eyes on Me," it reminded me of the swan dress, a bit, in the way the bird wraps around the body. I am quite taken with this dress, as blue is my favorite color and the peacock tail is very floofy when you move around.

Why yes, I am in a demo photosphere! I have notions of purchasing one, and this was a lil test. Don't judge me. I make no claims to photographic awsumness.

Pretty, yes? There is a pencil skirt option, too, and the poofy skirt comes in regular and curvy. Hooray!

So here is a small tiny miniature wee contest to hopefully restore my faith in Western civilization: first person to tell me which Greek mythological figure this dress would be appropriate for - much like Björk's swan dress was appropriate for Leda - gets this dress as a prize. (Or another dress at Icing if a. you already have this one or b. you're not into peacocks). AND you have to tell me how the peacock got "eyes" on its tail. The more details the better! Ok? GO!

more wiggily!

Yes, Uncle Wiggily again, that's what we saw last post, but just look at what Esme Michigan hath most recently wrought!

Dude, it's an owl sweater!!! I totally freaked out when I saw it, and most of the people who know me who have seen me wearing it have also freaked out (though perhaps they were humoring me by doing so, but, watch me care). I love it - a big mofo of an owl right there on my chest. Does it get any better!?

Thank you so much Esme!

Oh, also there is a deer one and a bee one, for people with other interests and tastes aside from owlish ones.

One last thing: I had a happy surprise the last time I was in the UW store, my dear friend AngieBabe Perl's name was above the tip jar as the last person to leave a tip! Yay! I haven't seen her inworld in a while, so it was kind of nice to see evidence of her existence, lol. Hope to see you soon Miss Angie!
